5 more questions

Yay! I got 5 more questions...this time from Extranjera... I've been really busy @ home with E this week, so these questions have come in so very handy. Hope you enjoy the reading. If you want me to send you 5 questions, just ask.

1. being able to run like the wind or having hubby do most of the chores?
Ohhh, this is an easy one. Run like the wind, for sure. I would love to experience the feeling of accomplishing a marathon or in the very least (and probably more likely) a half marathon and honestly, on most days I don't think I'll accomplish either. My body was just not made for running, but I'll keep trying. I'm determined right now. Oh and I already do 90% of the chores here, so give me the other 10% and please let me run like the wind.

2. In the classic 90210 which character do you identify most with and why?
Ummm...would you believe I have never ever watched a single episode of that show? Truth.

3. Three items you simply cannot live without? No matter what.
internet, of course. deodorant. my iPod touch.

4. Biggest challenge you have faced so far?
I think I'm in the midst of it right now. in combination with marriage I would have to say it was losing my job last year thru NO fault of my own (not a layoff either) and with E being only 12 wks old and me being the primary breadwinner. I've never been one to sue people or businesses, but I'm now involved in a lawsuit over the whole job situation that went down. the challenge(s) have primarily been financial as a result, but I would be the first one to confirm the fact that 90% of arguments between married people revolve around finances...of course this would be only when there aren't enough financial resources to go around. Who argues when there's too much money? LOL!!

5. Your proudest moment?
Well, there is always the standard "when my son was born" but I never understood when moms would say this...the baby has to come out somehow and what exactly made them proud? That they pushed him/her out? I dunno. I can't claim that anyway since E arrived via C-section. Very little work on my part. None, in fact. So anyway, I guess it would have to be when I returned from my year-long volunteer stint living in an orphanage in super-rural Mexico with no other English language speakers. There were countless times that I wanted to go home early, in fact, I had my mom change my flight three times. I also racked up an $800 phone bill calling home crying many rivers. Mom wasn't so happy about that one. So the fact that I finally adjusted and eventually even LIKED being there and fulfilled the entire year committment (July 23, 1995 through July 22, 1996) makes me feel quite proud. Oh and I learned to speak Spanish while I was there too, which was my own personal goal.

Good for you for volunteering at an orphanage. I know how reliving it can be to finally be around people who speak your native language after months without that often taken-for-granted comfort. I studied abroad in Costa Rica and did volunteer work at a nonprofit in Guatemala. I loved speaking Spanish, but it was always nice to encounter another English speaker every now and again.

1. The correct answer is: run like the wind...and then get outta Dodge & still leave O with all the chores. ;-)

5. While I think it is incredible that you volunteered like that, getting back to the E thing. You should be totally proud of the fact that you made, housed & have raised a sweet, adorable boy. Seriously. YOU MADE A WHOLE NEW PERSON.

Wow, I can't image being in rural Mexico for a year! Working in an orphanage sounds like amazing and rewarding work though!

Ok, so I never knew about the whole lawsuit thing before now...maybe I wasn't paying attention, but good luck with that! Make em' pay!

I love this 5 questions game. I have learned so much more about all of my bloggy friends who did it!

And I wish I would have had the guts to do something like the rural Mexico thing. If you ask me, that makes up not going away to college and even gives you bonus points! That had to be so tough and so rewarding, all at the same time.

MJ-thank you. it was tough @ times, but very rewarding. i'm glad my mom didn't give in and let me come home. I was so mad @ her @ the time though. LOL.

Dawn-Yes, you are right. run like the wind. I hear ya' on the E thing but SOOO many people give birth and not as many people volunteer in a foreign country, so I guess that's why I look @ it that way.

Keke-yes, very hard, but very rewarding.

Gidget-yeah, if you are interested in learning more about the lawsuit stuff, click on the JOB WOES label, you will see many many many posts about all that was going on. it happened in May 08.

I am loving thsi 5 question game too!!!

I think its pretty incredible that you lost your job and seem to be holding it together so well. Job loss/financial strain can chip away at us until it reaches the very core. I wish you the best of luck finding a new job that is hopefully just around the corner.

Rural Mexico for a whole year? That is AMAZING! You should be super proud of that one! :)

Wow, I didn't realize the lawsuit deal involves a job loss. You know, I complain about my job A LOT and I know I need to really shut up sometimes because I'm probably lucky to have one at all in the current climate. And Vanessa is right - that is one of the hugest psychological stressors around. You are doing a great job keeping it together in spite of some tough breaks, don't forget that!

Oh! By the way, I forgot to mention that I love your new blog header! AND, if you feel like sending me 5 questions...that would give me some blog material and I would appreciate it! :)

If you are bored you can send me 5 questions, if there's anything you'd want to know. It'll give me something to talk about other than my kids. I'm getting bored with myself.

And I am with you on the birth of children thing not being a proud moment. I mean, even the fact that I was able to deliver them vaginally, which is rare for triplets; that had more to do with them being in the right position than with me. Besides, at this point I don't know how they'll ultimately turn out, I could have little Jeffrey Dahmer's on my hands, and then I wouldn't be so proud! =)

Wow!!! Great for you volunteering in mexico!! What a great way to get a better understanding of how good we have it here in the old US of A with all of our indoor plumbing and stuff!! Good for you helping all of those kids, I am sure they will never forget you. What a neat thing!!

And I would LOVE to run the princess 1/2 marathon, but I will still be in Africa then. I wont be back here until June 2010, but I will be cheering you on!!! Promise!!
