bullet point review

~I have a feeling it's going to be a bullet-point post kind of week...

~I had my haircut @ Aveda on Sunday. All seemed well as I left. Well, Monday & Tuesday were hair days from hell. I felt & looked like a mess. Last night I took the scissors to my head MYSELF....and guess what - my hair turned out awesome today. Maybe a career change is in my future? LOL!! I actually want to go even shorter so I'm thinking of going to another completely different salon. I really like Sharon Stone's hair in this picture.

~speaking of hair. my old hairdresser FINALLY texted me back YESTERDAY. ONE WEEK LATER. Gee...thanks! Um, for NOTHING!

~we are 2 nights into the weaning process (again). last night was somewhat of an improvement over the 1st night -thank goodness. E still woke repeatedly but the worst part of it all is that in addition to crying, he now yells out "mama, mama" and well, that is absolutely heartbreaking. I ALMOST caved @ 5am this morning by taking him to bed with me. I wanted to cuddle him so bad. But I stood strong. My back was nearly breaking hunched over his crib, so we went to the couch and slept there 'til 6:30am. I don't think that's a bad thing.

~I was looking at my running log on my iPod this morning and comparing my first few runs to my most recent. I am super excited to see the improvement in my pace time. My first run (with iPod) on June 7th was 2.25 miles at a pace of 12:52. On Monday, July 13th, I ran 3.11 miles at an 11:19 pace. I LOVE THAT!! That is just what I needed to stay motivated! The best part, I'm really trying to focus on running farther as opposed to faster so I guess they sort of come hand in hand. Yay! I want to get THIS in the near future. I'm getting annoyed with the difficulty in calibrating the iPod. I would still use the iPod, but the watch is ready to go out-of-the-box. Also, a friend of mine has it and says it's wonderful. This is getting to be an expensive activity. LOL!! And don't forget the Oakleys I want to get before the 1/2 marathon - lots of time for that though.

~I'm still on the push-up challenge. I keep forgetting though which days I have done the push ups. I was trying to do them opposite my running days, but then when I occasionally take 2 days off from running (shin pain) that throws the schedule off. Either way, yesterday I did Week 2, Day 2 of the 100 Push Up Challenge.

~My mom is awesome. She bought THIS for Ethan and I. It should arrive this week. Last Friday I dropped my bike off at the bike shop for a tune-up. I haven't ridden (rode?) it in over 2 years. It is supposed to be ready Thursday. I can't wait to go for a ride with Ethan. I also read in Runner's World that bicycling is a good exercise to do while trying to give time for the shins to heal. Yay! Now I want THIS so I can go for rides outside of our neighborhood...we are surrounded by semi-busy streets and riding in my small neighborhood will get old, quick. Crazy, how one thing leads to another and another etc.

~After reading Extranjera's post yesterday where she mentioned Luis Miguel, I regressed back to my Mexico living days and have been obsessed with listening to his music ever since. Thank you Slacker Radio....and thank you Extranjera!! LOL!!

~I am very thankful that this class I have right now is only 5 weeks long. The RWP in there are getting unbearable. Ms. "I'm on my 3rd marriage" informed us all yesterday that her marriage is ALSO her husband's 3rd marriage and then continued to let us know that her first husband was violent with her. She nearly got into a heated argument with a classmate about the reality of being a women "stuck" in an abusive relationship...not a conversation I wanted to be a part of so I kept quiet. Regardless of her life situation(s) though, it's a freakin' class NOT a counseling session for HER. Yes, there will be some self-disclosure throughout a counseling class, but she needs to pull in the reigns.

~Then there is Ms. "I'm a former pastor" and I'm not sure I want to get into everything she goes on about in class...honestly I've lost track. I discovered she is the same age as me and honestly she looks like shes at least 10 years older. She has told us that her brother married a woman who was cheating on him prior to & during the wedding so she is uber-sensitive to affair-type situations and she has a host of other 'situations' in which she feels that she would not be an effective counselor. (wth?!?!) I'm starting to question why she even came into the program AND how in the world did they let her in? She must have given a good interview. The course is taught by one of the two head profs and honestly, if these two women keep revealing all this info, it's possible they could get booted from the program...if it appears that they are not suited for counseling.

~Oh Kayak.com, you are SO cruel to send me weekly email reminders about cheap travel deals all over the globe. Yeah, believe me, if I had a single extra penny, I would SO be gone. somewhere. anywhere. In today's email: ROUND TRIP FLIGHTS to ORLANDO for $109!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *screaming at top of my lungs now* Off to UNsubscribe to Kayak emails.

What a lovely mom you have! My hubby was talking about getting one of those for us and then I reminded him that neither one of us own bikes...silly boy.

When I was a kid/teen I hated Luismi but as I've gotten older I've learned to appreciate his style and music. Then again as a kid he got shoved down our throats, he was EVERYWHERE! You couldn't watch TV without seeing him or hearig him!

I receive those Kayak alerts too. Most of the time, I delete them, but I'm worried if I unsubscribe to them I'm going to miss "the deal of a lifetime".

I agree - your mom is awesome in so many ways!

You are getting faster and faster! I better get on the stick! :)

For some reason, the counseling/psychiatry field attracts needy people. There are many who should have stuck with a different career focus.

Congrats on the time and distance improvements! You're doing great.

Thanks for the bike cross-training reminder. I keep forgetting that mine is getting dusty in the basement. I need to pull that baby out a couple times a week.starting.THIS.week!

I'm going to have to check out kayak.com - I want to have some travel ideas for next year. Yea! :)

Great post! I went to buy a gps watch today so I could track my pace and the freaking this was $350...I was only looking to spend between $150-200. Am so going to get this too.

Also sorry about the RWP on your class. Hate to mention this (and am not referring to you or everyone in the profession) but there are a lot of people in the counseling profession who have serious issues. I've heard tons of stories from people who were involved with them not to mention I've know a few and they were definite RWP...oh and my ex who has serious issues is a therapist. Sorry hope this wasn't offensive I may just be feeling bitter tonight.

Oh yes, I've heard how people w/issues are drawn to the Counseling profession. Great. Wish I had heard that before I signed up. LOL! Well, we all have issues, but these RWP in my class have major issues and they need to just shut up!
