Bookish and Not-So-Bookish Thoughts

Bookish and Not-So-Bookish Thoughts is a weekly blogging event hosted by Bookishly Boisterous. It allows book bloggers (and non-book bloggers) to write about pretty much anything, bookish or otherwise (i.e. share exciting plans for the weekend, rants on things they've encountered during the week, etc.).
*************************************************************************************

1) Warning...this episode of Bookishly Boisterous might be a little heavy on the whiny side.

2) This is my first B&NSB post of the year and the crazy thing is that even over Christmas break I didn't have a chance to post anything...why didn't I have TIME during the break. That's nuts.

3) I've been reading All The Light We Cannot See for over a month now...of course, many of those days no reading of this book occurred, but I've been working on it. This is a book I was somewhat excited/anxious to read and yet while I do not want to abandon it, it also is not one I'm "dying" to pick back up. Yes, I want to finish it. Yes, those 500 pages seem mountainous at this point. I'm on page 164.

4) I also just started reading TouchBlue...a middle school book - for book club with my 6th graders. They are such a voracious reading group, they will probably show up tomorrow having read the whole book over Christmas break and I'm on page 24. I may be in a reading funk?!?

5) Speaking of funk...I thought I was starting off 2015 with renewed energy and a more positive spirit, but that seems to have evaded me already, only 8 days into the year. Ugh. I am finding myself feeling sad, frustrated and sometimes even angry...at what, you ask...at the fact that I am feeling like I have NO time for anything except work, dinner prep, dishes, laundry, 1st grade homework, bedtime routine. Seriously...it's draining me too. I'm so tired by the time I get in bed that I can barely do any reading. And let me also say by no means do I want this to seem like I'm "so busy" and am bragging about it...I would MUCH rather be NOT busy and have more downtime to sit on the couch with my son and watch some silly cartoon with him. I'm also way behind on my scrapbooking, more so than ever before and what is supposed to be a joy in my life, is turning into a stressor because I feel so far behind and have no time to put into it. I have mentioned quitting scrapbooking to my husband on various occasions and he always says "NO!"....which honestly, surprised me at first, but it's pretty neat that he is able to see the value in it...especially when I cannot. And he probably realizes I'm talking with my emotions in those moments.

6) Today's high temp is 28. It was 7 when I woke up. The entire county of public schools had a 2 hour delay as well as a few private schools. We of course, did not.  #anotherreasonwhyiaminafunk

7) The husband and I are going to see ANNIE on Broadway tour this weekend. So looking forward to a few "blast from the past" moments. We did see the new movie too and enjoyed it, but I must say that I'm more a fan of the original version.

8) Wow, I guess because I have no time for anything, I also have nothing interesting to post here. Can't think of another Bookish or Non-Bookish thing that is blog-worthy. The end.

I love the original Annie; I hope you enjoy seeing it on Broadway.

I totally understand feeling too busy, no matter what is going on it always seems like there is never enough time.

I hope your 2015 gets better!

I saw Annie in a theater in LA in 1980...wow, talk about blast from the past.

I still have the Annie doll I bought for my daughter then.

And I remember well the funk that comes with mothering, working, and life when you have small children. It does get better...when they are all grown up! LOL

Here are my thoughts:
