I neglected to provide Ethan's details and per Dawn's request, here they are:
Arrived @ 1:30pm
Weight: 7 lbs 10 oz
Length: 20 inches
A friend who came to visit us in the hospital said he was the most alert baby she'd seen...I haven't been around many newborns so it's hard for me to 'gage' - but he's definitely alert when I'm with him...he knows that I'm his food source. :-)
Here's another pic for you...I love this shirt and am bummed you can't see the whole thing... it says "HI, I'M NEW HERE"....too funny! And, yes, Ethan had REALLY dry skin when he was born....apparently quite common in babies who go past their due date. We are having regular "lotion parties" now...which he's not all that fond of, but his skin is improving.

You also neglected to say whether O's sister called and how many times!
One good thing about needing O to help you out of bed - at least he will be awake as much as you, ha!
I imagine you're right, you'll adjust to the new schedule soon enough. But like everybody else said, just rest when he does, especially with the recovery from surgery!
I cut through those abdominal muscles so often... but if that were ever done to *me*, I'd freak out! I hope you heal quickly. Sorry about the fluids. That'll come off the more you're up and about.
As far as getting out of bed... try rolling onto your side and then pushing yourself up with your arms. It works for some people!
Hang in there...
What a little sweetie!!! Thanks for the stats!! :)
Amy-LOL...she called @ least 1 time while I was in actual labor, but O made a trip home before everything started on Friday and I'm sure there were a few more phone calls then, as well as another 3-4 after the surgery and all..but since he knows that she drives me nuts...he takes the calls elsewhere...so hard to say for sure...but she definitely DID call while I was in labor...shocker!!
Nichole-thanks for the tips for getting out of bed..it's killer right now.
So now the real question - Did O Answer while you were in labor? Or did you just see later from his voicemail that she'd called?
Amy-he took the call, but I wasn't in "intense" labor w/hard breathing etc. Still though, she called KNOWING we would be @ the hospital @ that time. She's ridiculous!
Oh and she left a sappy voicemail for him saying how she hopes all goes well and she loves him and that even though her and I haven't talked in a while (which I don't know why) for him to tell me that she loves me too and wishes us well...blah, blah, blah. He made a point to have me listen to her message. Whatever.
so cute! and I know people say all babies are cute, but they're not...yours IS! He's very cute and I can't wait to meet him in person! hope you can get some rest and you heal quickly! congrats congrats congrats on making such an adorable baby!!
Krystyn, I have been around, seen, held & taken care of quite a few newborns in my time, and he looks very alert. =) And also very very cute. I am an expert on these things.
See you don't want to be one of those women who talks about being pregnant or talks about her kid, but we will drag it out of you. LOL!! I am dying at the food source & lotion party comments. You are too funny.
I hope you were able to catch up on some sleep while the little cutie napped yesterday. Oh & something that helped my father's wofe when she had Zach: When she would go to get up or cough or laugh or whatever she was doing that required her abdominal muscles, she would press a pillow gently against her abdomen for support & that seemed to help her a lot. She also did what Nichole suggested when she got out of bed.
I can't say it loud enough~ CONGRATULATIONS!!! He is absolutely adorable! I hope you have a speedy recovery :) And don't worry about the adjustment....you'll find your own groove in time. Just don't let anybody else try to tell you how 'it all' needs to be done. Do your own thing & you'll be fine! :)
He's GORGEOUS!
