SOOOO happy to report that I had NO shin splint pain. Woohoo!! It took me 42 minutes, but that's ok. I added a few more sprints in there and I'm hoping that come Friday, that will help me. I'm also banking on the atmosphere and adrenaline kicking in and keeping me running for longer and setting a new PR. *crossing fingers* I'm resting tonight and running again on Wednesday and then rest on Thursday in prep for the race.
~3.52 is my longest run so far. I know it's really not *that* long, but for me it is....and it's hard to take up more time on the treadmill while O does a half-assed job of watching E (another story for another day). So I guess in order to run more miles, I'm going to have to up my speed, which I'm hoping happens naturally. I've already increased my speed somewhat from when I started. I also signed up for another 5k race today. It will be held on 8.29.09.
~Staying on the running topic (sorry if you aren't interested) but that Nike+ gadget is the world's best little toy to get someone running and help them stay motivated. It works for me anyway. The Nike website has fun little challenges and goals you can set for yourself. When I first purchased this little contraption, I set a goal of 40 miles in 4 weeks and I just met that goal yesterday, in less than 4 weeks. So now I set a new one of 60 miles in 4 weeks. I also joined 2 challenges: 50 miles in July and Summer Running (which I'm currently in 8th place) I don't expect to win either, but it's still fun. I am starting to feel the need to purchase (wishful thinking) a GPS watch, although I'll wait 'til I am further along in my running to get one.
~I'm slacking a bit on the Te Amo Tuesday thing. I enjoy putting those together but I struggle to come up with a theme for each week. How about you start requesting a theme and then I'll put the lesson together? That way at least I know you are getting information that you actually WANT.
~I found a TON of awesome running blogs last night, women who are more closely in line with my running level, well and some way ahead of me too. So exciting. I can share the links if you are interested. Just let me know.
~Speaking of blogs. For those who are new here, I had 2 previous blogs, both of which I (impulsively) deleted due to nasty commenters and getting upset about them since I have a tendency to be a mush. Well, anyway, I started researching whether they are truly deleted and am trying to find a way to "re-vive" them. I would really love to have all those posts back, I'm talking all the way back to 2004. So far everything I've found on Blogger and related blog sites has not worked. BooHoo! Apparently none of my posts were ever indexed via Google, so I am unable to pull them that way. I have a note into Blogger to see if they really and truly are gone forever...waiting on their reply. I'm losing hope. :( If you know of any tricks, please do let me know.
~And because just about everyone has mentioned Michael Jackson on their blog. Here is my two cents. He was a mega-freak and I don't care how good his music was/is. Yes, I had a poster of him in my room when I was, oh I dunno 10 years old maybe, but for me his freakiness trumps his music. I'm sick of hearing about it in the news. Moving on...
~the best news all week. I'm playing 'hooky' tomorrow. Yep, calling in sick. Shhhh, don't tell!! Class starts back up next week and so I'll need to work all the hours I can then, so this is my last chance 'til August to take a little mental-health break. E and I are planning to go play @ this fun little kids gym (not the Little Gym) at 10:30am. After that, we may hit up ChickFila and then home for a nap. :)
~and since this is a randomness post...why do they fill up those fruit cups so full that when you take the plastic top off, the juice inevitably spills out? It's just as annoying as the 'exploding' yogurt containers too. Ugh!
~I ran 3.52 miles last night and am

I'm sooo glad your shins aren't painful right now!! That's great!! I would still ice them after running for a while just to be safe.
My husband and I love to so the nike+ challanges, we always challange each other. He also sets goals and wins trophies for meeting them. He loves it.
I would love to see some other runners blogs!!
I definatly want to run a half marathon with my husband when I get home from Africa. My last deployment I ran 7 miles a day and lost 40 lbs. I'm hoping to work back up to thoes runs and lose about 15 lbs...
Bob and I are running a 5k on sat!! So good luck to you friday! And us on sat!
Glad you found an online community of runner-bloggers! It's always easier to commit to something when you have a support group behind you. :)
1) I seriously love the little Nike gadget. Am seriously considering giving multiple hints to the spouse that he needs to buy me one.
2) Thank you for the MJ comment! It was so annoying to see all of the facebook statuses and read all of the blogs about him when he's been so publicly weird/crazy/inappropriate for so many years.
I can't wait to be "cleared" for re-starting my training for a 1/2 marathon! Later this week it will hopefully happen! My little Nike+ runner is pretty angry at me, I'm sure.
I'm glad you've been having great running workouts! Hope to soon be helping each other out with our trainings, once again!
Yay for chick-fil-a! And for your comment on michael jackson. Thought I was the only one in the world who really did not care.
PS. You rock! :)
I think you are doing so great with your running! Good work. One of my co-workers has that Nike thingy and she swears by it.
For the Te Amo Tuesday thing...here's a suggestion. You probably covered some of these in your other posts, but I have some Spanish speaking people who come to see me in my office and I always want to say have a nice day (hace buen dia or something like that) and other small-talky yet polite phrases. If you could do a small-talk post, that would be pretty cool.
Congrats on the running! That's awesome! I need to motivate myself to go workout but the weather so blah right now, it's hard! :P Going to try to go in the next 10 min...
Haha! Exploding yogurt containers! I always point them away from me when opening, it may splatter someone else but hey at least my shirt is still clean. Besides it'll eventually get on my shirt, I'm a dropper. No mattter how hard I try I always get some on me.
I'm with you on MJ. He's a child molester. You don't pay somebody $20 million to make a lawsuit go away. Especially not after it comes out that the little boy says you have a distinguishing mark on your penis. I will believe he's not a child molester if the autopsy says there are NO such marks there. Otherwise, bleh.
Hi there. I totally hope you weren't offended by my recent post that you commented on. I have read your blog, but actually, this is what inspired my most recent posts regarding baby-wise - http://babywisemom.blogspot.com/
I do also have a best friend who has been co-sleeping and she has had some trouble now that her daughter is getting older. I know that she has asked me what I have done that has made it so easy for me. I guess more than anything, I feel like if I can spread the word about what I learned and if it can work for even one person, then that makes me happy.
I think you are an amazing person who puts up with a lot of crap without a lot of support. I am lucky because my husband supports all my decisions, including those that regard our son and how to 'raise' him and deal with tough choices. I really do wish you luck in all your endeavors - weaning, finishing co-sleeping, running and your future career choices. Again, I hope I didn't offend you! I enjoy reading your blog. Take care!
So as someone looking to start running but very hesitant to do so. I'll take any advice you can give me! Thanks!
You are definitely an inspiration. I've been walking four miles in the evenings and I've recently added a light jog also! Yipppeee! Keep running for us (smile).
girl, the juice form the fruit cups get me *every* time - no matter how hard I prepare. WTF??? lol
