This is the alarm clock I currently have. Honestly I really do not need an alarm clock now that I have E. He is quite reliable and has me up no later than 7am daily, but usually even earlier. I do like to at least have a clock in my bedroom though.Anyway, I seem to have "issues" with alarm clocks and although I've had this one for some time, I now feel the need to get rid of it...why you ask...because the back light is just TOOOOOO bright. It even has 3 settings but the lowest setting is still way too bright for my liking. I could turn it totally off, but then I can't see what time it is at all, like at 2am when E wakes and insists on going into the living room (like last night).
Once upon a time, I had a great Sony "dream machine" (goofy name) that played CDs and I would put music on every night and happily fall asleep letting it turn off after 60 minutes or so. That alarm clock was "the bomb" and sadly it finally died after many, many long and happy years together.
The iHome also (obviously) plays music but the issue with that is that volume setting "1" which is the LOWEST, is TOO loud for falling asleep. Who the hell engineered this thing? They should be fired. Between the sound and the light, it's a piece of crap. The only thing it's good for is charging my iPod Touch while I sleep. Honestly. That.is.the.truth.
Prior to the current alarm clock, I had the one pictured above. I cannot recall all the issues I had with it, but I switched it out mainly because the other one is much smaller and takes up less room on my (small) nightstand.
To be honest, I cannot believe I'm having SUCH difficulty in finding an alarm clock that I like and which doesn't imitate a spotlight once the lights are off. Ugh!
I think a trip to Target may be in order today and I just may put my alarm clock up for sale on Amazon!!

why then you don't by for yourself a BOSE?
Certainly is the best sound, low backlight, lower volume, play cd's and charge your ipod. The best buy you can have.
I rarely set an alarm for myself anymore. Jason's goes off at 5:30 am on days when he works, but when he doesn't, I never need to set one because I know our cats will wake me up well before I need to start work (sometimes as early as 4:30). Cats and kids are so considerate. *sigh*
My clock is probably too bright for you, too!

Oooo...I agree with the first comment about the Bose. Super expensive, but so worth it!
With regards to the BOSE, although I don't need an alarm clock @ this point...eventually I will, so I really need something that would include this feature and BOSE doesn't.
Believe me, I would LOVE a BOSE...but more for the living area etc. and well, when I have the $$ for it too.
