(ALOT) of room for improvement

~so last night I ran my 1st 5k race in almost 3 years.

~I was hoping for a new PR, but apparently that was VERY wishful thinking.

~I ended up with my SLOWEST time ever. Yep!

~I'm a little frustrated because my Nike+ had me @ a good pace and on target for a PR if not very close to it.
can you find me?

~When I hit both the 1 and 2 mile marker, the Nike+ was very close as well, like 1.1 and 2.1 so not THAT far off.

~When I finished the race though, the Nike+ said I had ran 3.5 miles. If I really did run 3.5 miles, I guess the difference would have only been 30-40 seconds? I'm guessing. Oh well.

~When I crossed the finish line, the clock said 39:35 but on the results website today it was 39:37...great....add insult to injury. LOL!!

~On the bright side: I have LOTS of room for improvement. 3 weeks to my next 5k!!

~and to wrap things up, here is a VERY unflattering picture of me after the race. it was dark & my new camera has not arrived yet, hence the crappyness of photo quality. it's just a miracle that I was still standing.

Even though it wasn't a PR, that still is pretty close for not having ran a 5K in three years, AND for not having been training for that long.

You look awesome! And your worst time was great! I ran my 5K this motning and did my best time ever at 37:59. I still have loads of room for improvement.

I want to be faster. But I guess I shouldn't expect too much since I've only been running for 2 months as of today. I just wish the improvement were faster!

You look marvelous! Don't be so hard on yourself. And I love your kicks!

Big Congratulations to you! Even if you aren't proud of yourself, just know that your accomplishments are always an inspiration for someone else. Like, um, ME for instance. =)

Thank you for all the kind responses...thing is I'm super hard on myself, I know that. Then to make matters worse, I look @ other blogs and see people at the same level of C25K training as myself and they do WAY better. WTH? I've been an athlete all my freakin' life - why the heck can't I run faster! Argh!! I'm hoping once this last 20lbs of baby weight is gone, I can leave a few people in the dust. LOL!!

Great job! Maybe someday we can run a 5K together...sigh...someday!!! :)

My goal right now is to do a 5K run/.5 mile swim biathlon in the beginning of August! I love that race and haven't done it in years!

I think running your first 5K in awhile is a huge accomplishment.

Whatever the time was.

Congrats!!!! I'm sure you will only continue to improve with each run. By the time you do your Disney World run (that's what it is, right?), you will be back on your game, I'm sure.

You should be proud to have run the race! That's very exciting! You will keep kicking butt and you'll be getting that PR before you know it!
