the little things

~in an effort (and believe me when I say it's an EFFORT) to see loveliness in the everyday, I am compiling this list of 'little things' that have brought me joy lately.

~i occasionally stop @ ChikFila in the morning for a Diet Dr. Pepper. They cost $1.69 (or so). On a fluke the other day, I stopped @ Sonic. I didn't remember that they also had Diet Dr. Pepper...AND they add cherry (or other) flavor FOR FREE. The best part: before 10am, they are only .99 so that is $1.08 with tax. LOVE IT!!!

~Slacker radio on my iTouch. I love the BAN ARTIST feature. I don't want to hear CCR on my Jimmy Buffett station. thank.you.very.much.

~watching E play with his Sand & Sea table. getting the sand in his hair. learning to drink water from the hose while I try to rinse the sand from every orifice (sp?) of his body.

~iced chai at the local on-campus coffee shop - cheaper & SO MUCH tastier than SBUX.

~the possibility of being able to extend my patio by another 10 feet for FREE. the one (and so far, only) benefit to having a husband who pours a lot of concrete during the week. this will give E alot more space to play. our front yard is a major incline and not very "play-friendly" so the back yard is best for playing and riding his toys etc.

~pretty new pink running shoes. hooray!!

~new running gadget - the nike+ which will allow me to track my runs and help keep me accountable. not to mention the cute little Nike+Mini over there --->

~actually looking forward to running tonight. so strange. i used to dread it. :)

~i'm so glad i'm not one of those parents who is annoyed by all the music & various noises that kids toys make these days. this is particularly important since ALOT of E's toys play music or make noise. I usually end up singing along with all of them.

~going for a 2.5 mile walk in the scorching heat with my neighbor even though it was my "off" day from running/working out. So glad I did something active.

~putting on a pair of pre-baby pants this morning and discovering that they FIT. Wow!!! It's not that I've lost mega lbs or inches though, they just must have been very loose fitting pre-baby, but I'll take it. I needed another pair of pants for work. Hooray!

~getting a pedicure on Saturday. it will be soooo awesome as it will be after 3 days of running and just in time for my off-day (Sunday).

~taking next week off and planning an all-day pajama day for E and I on Monday.

~my mom telling me that she and her husband are going to Orlando in November. OK, this is in the wrong post because I am so NOT happy about it. I'm the one who IS DYING TO GO TO ORLANDO...she's already been to FL once this year. WTH? Not fair.

*side note* I just changed my blog user name from "remember moments" to my *gasp* real name -XXXXXX. don't be confused. this is your PSA.

*side note update* had 2nd thoughts about revealing my name. gone back to semi-incognito username.

That Nike+mini widget is adorable! Excellent job on your workouts! I've been slacking in a major way; ugh.

First, I LOVE the pink shoes! You have some mad running skills, woman! And I like the gadget thingy, too. Might have to borrow (steal) that idea.

And, you should totally save up and come down to Orlando. It is a fun place to visit!

I like your list of happiness. Great idea for an attitude lifter.

K-i'm trying. :)

Brandi-I think THIS time I'm in it for the long haul. no quitting, especially since i'm signed up for the Komen 5k. Plus I just 'feel' better about it this time around. New shoes & gadgets definitely help though.

Beth-no, no mad running skills here. I just force myself to get on the t-mill and get going. I love the Nike+ gadget - so happy I bought it.

It is easy to forget about the lil things sometimes... But it's all I think about when I'm away from home (which unfortunately right now is often). The little things I really miss are the way my silly boxer breathes in my face to wake me up in the morning, my super soft pillow case, sitting on the couch with my husband, the crazy meticulous way my husband folds my underwear (yes, this is super funny, but true!!!) and I am soooo thankful for my Nike +, it has been keeping me going for years. Your really doing great with keeping up the running. I know its not easy, but I am so glad you are sticking to it!!! I cant wait to see how much you enjoy the 5K!!!

You have me SOOOOO interested in this Nike+ and mini thing... I think I need to research getting one for myself and BF (cause I'm trying to get him to run).

Totally love the post! It's hard to sometimes only see the good/little things, but it's definitely what keeps me from going insane myself, so I hear ya!

Hope you're having a great week!

Oh I love this list, I need to do one!

And thanks for the comment - I love meeting people that spell 'Kristin' unique.

However, when I was young I was always sad that I couldn't get a magnet, necklace, keychain, etc. with my name on it, hehe.

JWBW-yes, it's VERY easy to forget about the little things, especially when consumed with sadness, anger & frustration as I have been over past month or so. finally starting to see the sunshine. Can't wait to run tonight. I rested yesterday but ended up doing a 2.5 mile walk instead.

Rachel-I LOVE the Nike+ and JWBW told me about it. I had wanted it quite a while ago but never bothered, now I'm LOVING it.

Krysten-glad you stopped by. I had those same feelings as a kid - couldn't find ANYTHING personalized unless we special ordered it. Too funny!!

Love the new shoes...I'm a new balance girl myself. I have to get high stability ones because me feet tend to roll when I run.

Thanks for the PSA about the name change..it's good to know these things!

OMG, Leila and I are having pajama day on Monday too! First day of summer vacation that we don't have something planned, and I can't wait!

I love your new shoes! How cute! And I'm really glad to hear about how motivated you are about running. I wish I liked to run, but I just can't get into it!

Also, you're not the first person I know to spell your name that way, I had a student who spelled it like that once. But you two are the only ones I know! :)
