run forrest run!

~ok - so I'm back on this running bandwagon and it's serious folks. I'm not sure where all this crazy motivation has come from, but I'm happy about it and I hope it sticks around a while.

~in conversing with a friend, I was made aware of THIS!! Great...I really DON'T need ANOTHER reason to want to go to WDW. I would have TOTALLY signed up for the Half Marathon but it's FULL already - boo.

~I have always said that I'd never run more than a 5k because, honestly folks, I find it to be REALLY boring and my attention span only holds on for 5k. BUT for a race @ WDW, I would SO commit to training for a 1/2 marathon. Argh...so bummed out.

~I picked up the July issue of Runner's World today. Yes, I'm probably obsessed @ this point. If I didn't KNOW that my muscles need to rest today, I would be back on that treadmill today. I plan to run @ least 3 miles tomorrow. I am basically doing Week 5, Day 1 of the Couch to 5K plan and just extending it for a few more intervals. Seems to be working well.

~So here's another race I want to do, but clearly I'm way too late. Maybe next year. *sigh* Not to mention that I have no money to travel there, so I'd probably have to run all the way there and then I'd be too tired for the race.

~I guess the plan is to stick to local races for now. I just read about an 8k that will be held about 1 hour from here. It's at 9:58pm on a Saturday night - too funny....but it's to avoid the heat. I'm seriously considering that one. It's 4 wks away. I think I could do it. It's only 5 miles.

I just wanted you to know that while I've always been a semi runner, your new motivation for running has re-inspired me to pick it up again! I am setting a goal of running a marathon! I'm so excited!

I heard about the WDW marathon and I had been intending to do it this year... but that was back when I started CT5K last summer... I'd probably be ready for it by now! lol

But maybe next year. I know someone who would take pics and cheer us on! :)

Dont forget there's a 5k training plan on the nike plus site too!! I havent used it, but plan on using the half marathon training plan when I get back from Africa. Bob and I were going to run the fleet week half marathon last year in Norfolk, but my stupid feet (that I always have problems with) couldnt hang, so we were going to do it this year, but I will be in africa. So we are going to try to do one when I get home.

WDW half marathon would be AWESOME!! Will have to keep that one in the back of my mind.

Is there a local running club in your area? Their website probably has a ton of local races.

Anyway, great job on keeping up your motivation!! Jessi

I ran the Disney 1/2 in 2004, it was a lot of fun. Like everything else they do Disney really puts on a great show for the runners. I also did the R&R 1/2 in Phoenix this past Jan and doing the Virginia Beach 1/2 in Sept. those races are also very cool to do and their is something like a half dozen or more in various places throughout the year. Anyway, after our simultaneous FB posts about running music, I took your suggestion and added some Van Halen, I also added Nickleback since someone recommended it to both you & I. Good Luck with your running, sometimes I hate doing it but I always feel so much better afterwords!

I think a race at night is brilliant! You should totally sign up for it since you're now a running diva.

I actually was training for the Disney 1/2 marathon in 2007 when I managed to pinch a nerve in my back and made running impossible. :( It looks like such a fun race.

Oooh that is tempting!! I might just have to sign up for it too!! You doing the 5k??? Congrats!! I'm excited for you :)

Rachel-glad I helped to re-inspire you.

Chele-you and me both...had I kept up with the running the last 47 times I started. LOL!! We will HAVE to plan to do the WDW 1/2 -maybe in 2011. I know someone who would take pics & cheer us on too!!! :)

Bambi-I think a night race would be interesting.

Jessi-I looked briefly @ the 5k plan on the nike plus site. i've done the C25K before so I guess I just went back to it. I may look @ it for further training -say for a 1/2 though. We do have a local running club and they do list a TON of races. I just found another one @ night on 7/3 and much closer. Will probably sign up for that one. :)

Cathleen-I'M SO JEALOUS. You did the 1/2 in Disney. :) I think the R&R was/is in Nashville too. Glad the music helped you out.

Emily-sorry to hear about the pinched nerve. Ouch. I want a Disney medal SOOO bad. How cool would it be to have my little guy watching from the sidelines cheering me on too? Awesome!!

Anna-yes, right now I'm signed up for the Komen 5k but that's it. Probably signing up for another race on 7/3, also a 5k.

That is so awesome! Keep up the great work! It's inspiring me to do a little more exercise so I can get to a running weight!

*krystyn* said...

SeƱorita-I understand. I am hoping that running with all my extra weight will make it all that much easier to run farther & faster when the weight starts coming off - which I hope happens when I begin weaning E next Sunday. :)

I love that you're on the running bandwagon and are going petal to the medal...I'm totally inspired by your dedication and am using it to keep me going! AND maybe I'm a little competitive and if you can push yourself, then damn it...I can too.

p.s. I saw on twitter that E had a good night...that's awesome!

Yes there is a Country Music 1/2 in Nashville in April, it is part of the R&R Series events. I actually had intentions of doing it this year but then my mom got sick and ALL my plans changed. I will have to see if I have my pictures from Disney here on a thumb drive somewhere. If I do I will send them to you, I don't have many but they are still neat!

Go you! I don't think I could run that far without passing out or having an asthma attack. Good luck for the one (or two) you choose!

You rock girl! Kudos to you for running. I'm not a runner, I'm an elliptical girl ;)
