23-daily points i'm allotted on WW...soon will go down to 22...gasp!

14-pounds lost so far.

26-days 'til E turns TWO years old. Whoa! Where did that time go?

4-watches i own that currently need batteries. good thing i'm a watch-junkie & have others i can wear in the meantime.

60-dollars to put batteries in above mentioned watches...wth? why are watch batteries $15 a pop?

3-books I read between semesters...my goal was 5...fail!

258-dollars that OB is charging me for recent procedure that my crap United Health Care Student insurance did not cover. some benefit that "free" health care "coverage" turns out to be...too bad it doesn't COVER much!! i asked OB for discount & she declined...unless i had paid it on the day of the procedure...well, I didn't know THEN that crap insurance wouldn't cover it. thanks. for. nothing.

307-dollars that Pediatrician is charging us for all our December visits...see note above on how I feel about this. i am basically moved to tears because things in this household are tighter than ever before...already feeling strangled. bad enough I have to pay a truckload for daycare...but then get hit with this on top of it, which is a direct result of going there. i am really hating daycare right now...and doctors...and insurance companies.

Congratulations on your weight loss! I rejoined WW a couple of weeks ago, but have only lost 2 lbs and only get 21 points. booo....

When I hear about insurance and the cost of health care in the US, I am happy to be in Canada and have free health care.

You are doing such an amazing job with your weight loss! I'd be packing on the pounds with the stress of that stupid insurance and everything else going on. Way to go!

And those bills are just another reminder of why a full-time military guy is a plus. ;) Just joshing...

Why are they not covering E's visits? Is your deductible crazy high or something?

14 pounds is great! Congrats!

I remember the days of going to school and raising kids at the same time while working. Suck. On the bright side, it does indeed get a lot better. And it really says something impressive about your character that you're managing it.

I'm not sure I'll convince you of anything, but please don't take your frustrations out on your doctors. We are in an impossible position: payments have declined steadily every year for over 20 YEARS, but the costs of running a business and educating ourselves have increased steadily in the same time. Whatever people may think, most of us are *not* rolling in it and playing golf all the time.

One Thanksgiving, our sink stopped up and we needed to call a plumber to snake it. We paid him more for that visit than I make for taking out someone's appendix and the 90 DAYS of care afterwards. Technically speaking, I saved that person's life. And I made less than a plumber. The cost of something is generally considered to be the way society places value on something. So society values a plumber's services more than a surgeon's. Think about that for a minute.

If you want to know what is covered, check your policy or call your insurance company. Doctor's offices, with all the burdens under which they operate, cannot be tasked with knowing about the literally thousands of plans out there and who covers what. Ultimately, it is the insured's responsibility.

I'm truly sorry you're under such a financial crunch; you're not alone. But please, *please*, don't take it out on the people who try to keep you and your family healthy.

I work for that crap insurance company you have and let me tell you, they give their employees even worse choices in policies than what they offer the general public.

Again this year, rates went up, coverage went down and prescription co-pays rose 50%. I was recently hospitalized and my room and board alone came to $33,000. They covered $9,000 of it.

On top of everything else I am now on medical leave as dictated by my doctor and I have yet to receive a paycheck (1.5 months later). Yes, I pay for the Short Term Disability benefit but just try to get them to choke up their portion of it!

All this, of course, is taking place as they are handing out million-dollar yearly bonuses to their CEO's while notifying their employees that for the 2nd year in a row we will not be receiving a pay raise.
