~Atlanta~

~So I clearly have been bitten by the travel bug. I'm aching to go SOMEWHERE, but since money is tight and I have to work 3 days a week and finish this torturous semester, well, it's been difficult to get away.

~On Easter Sunday, after church and an egg hunt, we decided to go to the zoo. We became members. That membership also gets me free or discounted admission to other zoos in the country. It gets me 50% off admission to the Atlanta zoo, which is only 3 hours away. Guess where I want to go now?

~Atlanta also boasts an Ikea store (yum) and Archivers (yum again). Both would be very necessary destinations. And if there are other touristy things that a 14 month old would enjoy, please DO let me know!

~I'm thinking that me and the little man may be taking a road trip down there next month. Now I just need to find an affordable hotel, as I don't think 6 hours in the car in one day would make him very happy.

When we go to Atlanta, we like to go to Centennial Park. There is a playground there, near the aquarium. (Also, it isn't near the zoo, but the zoo is near the botanical gardens, I think.) The MARTA is a fun thing to do, just because kids like trains. We live in Chattanooga and drive through the ATL to get to most places. And for a while we were going to ATL for the SEC Tournament every March.

Oh, I miss Atlanta and the Zoo! Get online and look up activities for that age group; a 14 month old doesn't have a long attention span but I'm sure the zoo will hold his attention for an entire day!

You should be able to find a clean, affordable motel in midtown which will put you clearly in the middle (no pun intended!) of things.

Have fun and take lots of pics!

oooh! Stay away from Ikea if you value your budget!!! I once went in just fo two itsy-bitsy things I needed... and walked out a couple of hours later with my bank account almost 200€ lighter!!! Kept seeing things I "forgot" I needed! :p

I've never been to Atlanta, but I've heard great about it.

Good luck with the travel plans! I hope it all comes together nicely.

I've never been anywhere remotely close to Atlanta... I did come up with a great song for you to check out... I'm all about theme songs for road trips... Atlanta by Allison Krauss. I love her voice and it will remind you everytime you hear the song about your trip.

Enjoy it!

I just started following your blog and love it! I went to Atlanta last summer with my fiance and we went to the Atlanta Aquarium and The World of Coke (where they make coca-cola products). Both very touristy, but GREAT places for kids!

Funny, without reading your profile, I thought you were from NY. My dad lives in Atlanta, it's a little nutty around there!
