~morning routine~

I did this survey way back on 10.23.07 (pre-baby & with a work-from-home job), you can see my answers here. I thought it would be fun to do again and see how things have changed.

What's your morning routine?
Mon-Wed I wake up @ 6:30am to shower and get ready for work/school. Make my lunch and run out the door by 7:30am. Thurs-Sun, I stay in bed as long as E allows me to, which is usually only 7:30am, 8am if I'm lucky.

What's your bedtime routine?
Changing E's diaper, put on his PJs, read 1-2 books, give him a ton of kisses and put him to bed. Oh wait, this is MY bedtime routine...visit the restroom, wash face, brush teeth, put on my PJs and then I typically check my email one more time and then go to bed too.

What's missing from your daily routine?
Alone time. And being an only child, I honestly believe that I require a bit more of this than most. I am "starving" in this area right now. My only 'alone time' is spent studying and frankly, I don't think that counts.

What is a habit you're working hard to develop?
Exercising more.

What is a habit you're working hard to break?
Eating too much.

At your favorite restaurant, do you always order the same thing or do you try the special?
I'm not sure I really have a favorite restaurant.

What things do you buy at the grocery store every single time you go?
Dannon Light N Fit Mixed Berry Yogurt, Weight Watchers Blueberry Muffins, Fruit Cups, Milk, Eggs, Cheese & coffee creamer for O.

What would someone close to you say is your most annoying habit?
People have [occasionally] told me that I'm pessimistic.

Which outside forces have the biggest impact on your routines?
Is E considered an outside force, because he pretty much impacts controls my entire daily routine. I schedule everything around him and his naps typically, although he has had his fair share of naps in the car.

Describe the person you know who is most driven by habit.
I guess that would be O. He is sort of a creature of habit with his daily routine, coffee in the morning, work, on the couch by 5pm usually and falls asleep watching TV normally by 9pm.

Good luck on the habits, they almost mirror mine! Darn food being so tasty!

Oh my am I a pessimist!!! Don't worry I am unfortunately right. I try to warn others - don't buy the house overlooking the expressway (they have been trying to get their money back for 8 years now), don't major in that you will never get a job, etc. This is probably why I have to blog. Who wants to be friends with someone who tells you the truth!!! Anyway... I have the funniest post for the potty training bloggers this morning. I will be cracking myself up all day!! Enjoy.

If you really want to get "there", don't forget to take "quality" time for you. If you don't, everything you do for everyone else does not matter much because it will be coming from a lost soul. You are an important part of your family. YOU have to take a little time for "YOU". And no, studying does not count. I am a wife and mother of 6. I lost me a long time ago. I forgot how I loved to craft. I just did not want to take the time away from my family to be so selfish. Well, my wonderful husband asked me one day why I talk about my crafts that I used to do with such passion but have not touched a paint brush the whole time we have been together. I told him it was not as important to me right now as my family. He asked me when I thought it would become important again. I did not have an answer. Bottom line is, he said if I was not happy inside, my family could tell something was missing from me. That was part of me and I had to make it important for them to truly know who I was. Don't forget about you! Now, I have still a very happy family, I am happy, my husband still tells me everyday he loves me and I craft all the time. Remembering me has changed nothing in my family but everything in me. Nothing has suffered by this this change. I was the only one suffering before the change and did not realize it. Have a wonderful day ad do one thing today just for you!

I think alone time could be missing from many parents' daily routine but most of the time, the children make it worth it.

I totally understand your comment on being an only child and craving alone time. Having been married forever and having one child, I would have thought I’d have gotten used to having someone around all the time, but no. I actually look forward to my two hour round-trip commute each day, just to have some “me” time. Take any time you can get - in your case, I would agree that study time doesn’t count.

Hey, I'm new to blogging, and recently started following yours. I just thought I'd let you know I was doing the survey as well. Thanks!

I'm not an only child but I still definitely require alone time. I am a better person to those I love when I have time to myself to be quiet & process my thoughts & reflect. It's how I recharge.
